When Robin Hood lived in his father's house, he often met a girl. Her name was Marian. She lived with her father not far from Robin's house. The damaging effects of a flood can be great. Flood waters destroy everything in their path buildings, bridges, roadways etc. Entire crops can be ruined and people and animals can die from drowning. Even after flood waters retreat, the problems can continue. Water can be dangerous to drink, people can get sick from diseases, and there can be food shortages. Economic diffraction be felt for years. Those who stay have to spend a lot of money to rebuild their houses. Fortunately, countries which suffer from floods have found ways to control destructive flood waters by building huge mechanical barriers to protect them. Nothing, however, is a guarantee. In 2005, this system failed in New Orleans when The storm Hurricane Katrina hit caused more than 50 breaks in levees* (walls raised to prevent a river from overflowing) and resulted in 80% of New Orleans being flooded. In some areas the ground lay beneath 4.5 metres of water! Those not evacuated had to swim for their lives or remain trapped on their rooftops!

1)The history of our planet is the history of wars. We have to admit that human beings, the most amazing creatures in the world, can't get along with each other. We are paradoxical. We are able to launch spaceships to other planets and can get to oceans deep, but we don't respect the rights of the person next to us. We've created the most effective medicine and our scientists work wonders to save people's lives, but, on the other hand, we've invented the most effective and cruel weapons to kill people. Is it possible to prevent a global war if we go on like this? Nowadays no one can say that he doesn't care what's going on it the world. No one can feel safe even if there no war in his country . Many countries have already suffered from terrorist attacks - the USA , Spain,Russia , Britain and many others. Killing and wounding innocent people , women and children cannot by justified be any political situation or religious beliefs . Most people realise now that only cooperative action among all countries can protect nations from the threat of terrorism.

Our eating habits affect our feeling during the day. What happens if I have no breakfast, or
poor breakfast? I'm likely to be glad or cross, and, of course, hungry till having lunch.
Food is a form of fuel. It gives us energy, helps us to grow, resists diseases, forms strong
teeth and bones. No single food can take care of all body's needs. Different foods do different
things for the body. Some foods are better than others in helping make strong muscles. Among
them are meats, eggs, fish, and poultry. Some foods are better than others in helping keep
bones, teeth, skin, and blood. Among these foods are fruit, vegetables, milk, and cheese.
There are so many kinds of food - fast food, snacks, junk food - that it may be difficult to
follow a healthy diet. In the past, sailors who went on long sea voyages stayed on their ships for
many months without going ashore. They did not get fresh food and so often suffered from a
disuse called scurry. Scurry is caused by a lack of vitamin C, which is found in fruit and
vegetables.
In our country, bread is an important part of our everyday food. My granny says that if
there is no bread, there is no food.

1. People have lived on our planet for many years. We may live on different continents and in different countries, but we all depend on our planet, on the sun, on animals and plants around us. We must take care of Earth but not destruct wildlife. Many species of animals and birds are disappearing nowadays. We cut down trees to make furniture, but we forget that people can’t live without trees and plants. Every little creature or thing oh Earth plays its own part and makes our home unique.

2. One of the biggest eco problems is pollution. The main reason of pollution is rubbish Most of our rubbish goes to big holes in the ground, called ’dumps’. But dumps are very dangerous for our life, because they are full of rats, which can carry infections away from dumps. Another way to get rid of rubbish is to burn it. But the fires make poisons, which go into the air and pollute it. This is the propel scientists should get interested in. Such researchers are worth spending money on.

3. The Royal Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (the RSPCA) tries to protect animals from bad use. It operates big nation campaigns aimed at lost pets and circus animals. The World Wildlife Fund (The WWF) rescued several species of animals mammals as well as birds. These organizations also helped to create more than 25C National parks. Greenpeace began its work 20 years ago from saving whales. And now Greenpeace is a world-famous organization, which saves plants, animals and people.

4. Every year world industry pollutes the atmosphere with about 1000 million tons ol dust and harmful substances. Many cities suffer from smog. Vast forests are cut down and burn in fire. Their disappearance upsets the oxygen balance. As a result some rare species of animals, birds, fish and plants disappear forever, a number of lakes and rivers dry up. The pollution of air and the world destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature, a sign of ecological crises.

5. Numerous conferences have been held to discuss questions of ecologically pool regions including the Aral Sea, the South Urals, Kuzbass, Donbass, Seiriipalatsinsfc and Chernobyl. An international environmental research center has been set up on Lake Baikal. Scientists are also doing much to preserve the environment. But these are only the initial steps that must be carried forward to protect not only for the sake of the present but for the future generations.
