The building of the Pushkin Museum appeared at the beginning of the 20th century in a small old Moscow Street Volkhonka. The museum opened in 1912. At first the museum exhibited - its halls copies of famous sculptures. Later the museum bought original masterpieces. Now the collection of sculptures in the Pushkin Museum is one of the best in the world. The building itself is an architectural masterpiece. The collection of paintings is not as large as the one in the Hermitage but the Pushkin Museum houses many originals of Italian, Spanish, Dutch and other famous artists. Now it is the second largest museum of art in Russia. Russian people are proud of the large collection of paintings of French artists of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries which are on the display of the museum.

At home with SUPERMAN
Dean Cain, the 28-year-old actor who plays reporter Clark Kent and Superman in the TV series ``The new adventures of Superman'', told us about his typical day.
'I wake up at 5.00 a.m. and ten minutes later I have breakfast, which is usually five or six eggs (for protein) with onions. I leave home at about 5.30 a.m. and drive to the studio - it's an hour's drive. When I get there, at 6.30 I have a shave. Then they do my hair and make-up and I learn my lines for that day - there's never any time to read them before that.
When I'm filming I always eat rice, chicken, and vegetables two or three times a day. I finish work at about 7.30 p.m., and get home an hour later. Then I look at my mail and check my answerphone for messages. I usually have meat and pasta for dinner. I go to the gym for half an hour before I go to bed at 10.00 p.m. It isn't easy - I work hard, play hard, and sleep hard - you need discipline in my job.'

Non-ferrous metals are more expensive than ferrous metals and are used only when some characteristic not possessed by iron or steel is essential or desirable in application. These characteristics are: high electrical and thermal conductivity, high corrosion resistance, non-magnetic qualities, light weight, etc.
The metals most frequently used to make non-ferrous metal castings are copper, tin, zinc, lead, nickel, gold and aluminium. Some of the basic non-ferrous metals and their characteristics are described below.
Copper is a reddish-brown, tough metal. It has very high electric conductivity and high corrosion-resistant qualities. Copper is used for making electrical contacts and wires, pipes, telephone cables, tanks, water heaters, etc.
Zinc is a hard, brittle, bluish-white metal that is employed in the pure form as sheet zinc.
Lead is a very heavy bluish-grey metal which is very soft. This metal is highly resistant to corrosion, but its strength is so low that it must be supported by a core of some other metal. Lead is used for lining pipes, acid tanks and coating electrical cables.
Aluminium is a soft, silvery white metal. It is light weight, has high corrosion-resistant qualities and is used for automobile and airplane parts as well as for making different light-weight objects used in everyday life such as: frames, cooking utensils, chairs, etc.

Natasha works at the Ministry of Trade. She is a secretary of Rossvneshtrans. Their firm
does business with many countries: England, France, Spain, Italy and others. She
usually comes to her office at 9 o'clock. She types many letters, offers and other
documents during the day.
Many customers come to Rossvneshtrans every day to discuss business matters. The
secretary always meets them. She prepares everything for the talks. At the talks parties
discuss prices, terms of payment, shipment and delivery. In the evening Natasha goes to
University. She studies languages there because she wants to become a good specialist in foreign trade.
Now Natasha is at her office. She is speaking on the phone with Mr. Bill, a representative
