Our Planet Earth
The planet Earth is only a tiny part of the universe, but it's the only place where human beings can live.
Today, our planet is in serious danger. Acid rains, global warming, air and water pollution, overpopulation are the problems that threaten human life on Earth.
Who is to blame for the disaster? The answer is simple: all of us. Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt. If this trend continues, one day we won't have enough oxygen to breathe.
The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear waste, chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The Mediterranean is already nearly dead; the North Sea is following. The Aral Sea is on the brink of extinction. If nothing is done about it, one day nothing will be able to live in the seas.
Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or insect dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.
Air pollution is another serious problem. In Cairo just breathing the air is dangerous — equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. The same holds true for many Russian cities. Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are.
Fortunately, it's not too late to solve these problems. We have the time, the money and even the technology to make our planet a better, cleaner and safer place. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered species. We can recycle litter. We can support green parties and put pressure on those in power. Together we can save the planet and all of us with it.

Планета Земля лишь малая часть Вселенной, но это единственное место, где человеческие существа могут жить.
В настоящее время наша планета находится в серьезной опасности. Кислотные дожди, глобальное потепление, загрязнение воздуха и воды, перенаселенность- проблемы, которые угрожают жизни человека на Земле.
Кто виноват в катастрофе? Ответ прост: мы все. Наши леса исчезают, потому что они вырубаются или сжигаются. Если эта тенденция сохранится, то в один прекрасный день у нас не будет достаточно кислорода, чтобы дышать.
Моря находятся в опасности. Они заполнены ядом: индустриальные и ядерные отходы, химические удобрения и пестициды. Средиземноморье уже почти мертво; Северное море следующее. Аральское море находится на грани вымирания. Если ничего не делать, однажды ничего не сможет жить в открытом море.
Каждые десять минут один вид животных, растений или насекомых умирает навсегда. Если ничего не делать, 1 млн видов, которые живы сегодня, может скоро исчезнуть.
Загрязнение воздуха является еще одной серьезной проблемой. В Каире, даже дышать воздухом опасно - это эквивалентно курению двух пачек сигарет в день. То же самое верно и для многих городов России. Фабрики испускают тонны вредных химических веществ. Эта эмиссия имеет бедственные последствия для нашей планеты. Они являются основной причиной парникового эффекта и кислотных дождей. Еще большей угрозой, являются атомные электростанции. Мы все знаем, о трагических последствиях Чернобыльской катастрофы.
К счастью, еще не слишком поздно, чтобы решить эти проблемы. У нас есть время, деньги и даже технология, как сделать нашу планету лучше, чище и безопаснее. Мы можем посадить деревья и создать парки для вымирающих видов. Мы можем утилизировать мусор. Мы можем поддержать партии зеленых в их давлении на власть имущих. Вместе мы сможем спасти планету и всех нас с нею.

So I am taking A levels in English, drama and IT* at college. I also take part in the college events —this is something pos-itive that I can write in my CV together with my work experience. I helped in both a nursery and a primary school. I thought it would allow me to develop both my key skills and my personal qualities. I asked the people who I worked with what qualifications they had done. They talked to me about the good aid bad aspects of the job of a teacher and what they liked about it. It is hard work but it allows you to fee] personal achievement, to feel respect, besides the salary is good. I liked to belong to a team and my work helped me to improve my confidence and to get the skills that I need for higher education or employment. Now I plan to go on to higher education after college. But if I decide to cliaiige any career in the future, I am certain that neither my skills nor experience will be useless to me.
