Astana  is the capital city of Kazakhstan. It is located on the Ishim River in the north portion of Kazakhstan, within Akmola Province, though administrated separately from the province as a federal city area. The 2014 census reported a population of 835,153 within the city, making it the second-largest city in Kazakhstan.

Founded in 1830 as Akmolinsk and renamed as Tselinograd  in 1961, the city has evolved into a cultural and administrative centre of Virgin Lands Campaign.In 1992, it was renamed as Akmola , the original name meaning "white holy place" or "white abundance".

Now it is the city of the future, the city of dream. Every day it develops more and more and prospers. Here passes a set of sports and cultural events. In Astana the most modern buildings which strike with the architecture are under construction. Guests from other countries, coming to Astana, open mouths from surprise. Astana in appearance looks as the new city, the city of the XXI century. For years of independence of Kazakhstan in it there were skyscrapers of the most surprising kits, modern parks and squares, fantastically beautiful fountains and monuments. A city symbol — a monument Bayterek, a tree of life of the people, roots grown into the earth, and krone resting against the sky. That the city became even cozier for life, in it diligently plant trees and shrubs. And in the evenings many central buildings beautifully highlight. Earlier Astana was the small city on crossing of trade ways. It was called as Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola. The decree of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev the city was renamed into Astana, having given it new life — the capitals. Now the residence of the President is in Astana. It is the palace of Joint stock company horde at the beginning of beautiful Vodno-zelyony Boulevard. This rather majestic building. Astana is obliged to Nursultan Nazarbayev by such prosperity. Near Joint stock company horde there is the biggest tent in the world — the shopping center building Khan-shatyr. It completely transparent also strikes with the scales. Astana now - the center of business in Kazakhstan. No wonder that many residents of our country want to live exactly there. I know many people who moved or want to move to live and work to the capital. The city roughly grows directly in the eyes and extends.
