your friends. Besides, it is the best way to get a good education. The teachers encourage us to work our best because they want us to succeed in life. We are never afraid to take test or exams. We can go and see a teacher for help anytime. We study all the compulsory subjects and there are a lot of optional subjects. The discipline is rather strict at school. We watch less TV than we did it at home but there are a lot of other interesting activities to take part in. In the evening we do anything from dancing to playing games. We go on school trips and do a lot of sports. But, of course, I sometimes miss my family.

weekend in my uncle is big, old house in the country. It was stormy outside, so we decided to spend a cosy evening chatting together in the living room dowstairs.

Suddenly, there was a powerful gust of wind. The lights fickered and then went out altogether. " What was that?" I said. " Don it worry, John, it is just a power cut, " Greg reassured me. We carried on laughing and telling scary stories in the dark. After a while, there was a bright flash of lightning that lit up the whole room. There was a loud gasp. "Andy is missng!" Am cried.

We all looked at each other confused and scared, because no one had seen Andy laeve the room.We felt our way around the house, calling Andy, but there was no reply. We went back to the living room and triend to think of what to do next. Just then, there was a loud snore from the corner of the room. At that moment, the lights came back on. There was Andy, fast asleep on a big , velvet sofa!

Andy sat up sleepily, rubbing his eyes." Oh good, the lights are back on! " he said. " I was sleepy and felt like a snooze. I didn it want anyone to trip over me so I crawled over me so I crawled over here. " We were all very relieved.

Holidays
People in every country celebrate holidays.Although "holiday" means "holly day" most holidays in Great Britain are not religious but commemorative in nature and origin.There are only 6 public holidays a year in Great Britain,that is days on which people need not go in work.There are:Christmast Day,Boxing Day,Good Friday,Easter Monday,Spring Bank Holiday and Late Summer Bank Holiday.In Scotland,the New Year`s Day is also a public holiday.
Christmas
For many British families Christmas is the most important holiday.Christmas is selebrated in Grean Britain on the 25-th of Desember.Christmas is a religious holiday and one of the happiest holidays of the year,because it is the day that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
People prepare for Christmast weeks before:they buy gifts for their families and friends,choose fur-trees and decorate them with ornaments,coloured paper,holly and lights,different toys and candles.
There are a lot of traditions connected whith Christmas but perhaps the most important one is Christmas present.Children wait for Santa Claus who comes to every house and brings presents.Going to bed children leave their stockings and shoes to receive present the next morning.
There are a lot of jokes and fun on Christmas day.Young people like to spend it together in good companies.Family members sit down to a big turkey dinner followed by Christmas pudding and Christmas cake.Later in the afternoon they will watch the Queen on TV as she delivers her traditional message to the U.K. and the Commonwealth.
People wish each other a "Merry Christmas!"

Central Park is a nice park in the centre of New York, the United States. It was founded in 1857. The park is not very large but it is rich in trees, green bushes, beauiful flower and small lakes.
Central Park is famous for its outdoor activities. People can run, jog, ride their bikes and roller skate on the numerouse park"s roads. There are many baseball fields and courts for tennis and volleyball. Central like walking in the park because it is full of amazing playgrounds . There is also a zoo with a penguin house and a polar bear pool in the park.
Each summer,visitors can enjoy performances and music concerts in the park.Hundreds of people visit Central Park every day.
