Успех заставляет дурака казаться мудрым. Имеется в виду, что даже глупый человек, неожиданно совершив верный поступок, угадав решение некой проблемы и т.п., может показаться окружающим мудрым, хотя на самом деле он таковым не будет.

My brother Alex doesn't care much about what he wears. His clothes are always clean and nice, but that's it. However when he was younger cloches were very important to him.

At school be used to be a rapper. That means he listened to rap music and wore very loose clothes. I think be enjoyed shocking his family more than he enjoyed wearing baggy jeans and T-shirts. They were totally unsuitable for a situation when quick action was needed. I know from him that once he had to run away from some bullies and nearly lost hts jeans on the way. The huge clumsy trainers added up to the problem.

Another funny story is about his dreadlocks. He longed to have them and they were very expensive to make in a hair studio, but one of his friends was a stylist. She made him dread locks for free. He only managed to wear them for a short time and developed a headache. He also started losing hair. So be had to say “no” to dreadlocks because he did not want to become bald at twenty.

When he was eighteen, he went to the university and worked part-time in a bank. At that time he wanted to look elegant and expensive just like the bank managers, so he spent all he earned on clothes. His views changed together with his style. He disapproved of the neighbours who wore rapper clothes just like him in the past. When I asked him about this change, his answer surprised me. “I grew out of this style. It's for teenagers and our neighbours are thirty. They have a seven-year old child and he should be in the focus of their attention and not the rap music and night clubs. A person must have age-appropriate tastes. "I listened to him, looked at his posh shirts and ties and smiled to myself.

When Alex started going out with girls, he used to say, “I value good looks in girls above all”. After a while he changed his mind. “There should be something behind those blue eyes: some intellect, some ideas and some kindness too." So you can see that my brother was growing and learning from his own mistakes.

Once he met a professor. The professor was an outstanding scientist and a remarkable person. But his appearance was very plain. He dressed in grey. His grey shirt was wrinkled, his hair was untidy, his eyes looked huge behind the thick glasses. His appearance did not promise much, but the moment he opened his mouth, everybody forgot about his appearance and listened. His sense of humour, witty remarks and knowledge in various areas won everybody's warm sympathy. He was the soul of every company.

At that time Alex stopped thinking about the way he looked. He concentrated on who be was.

Religion flourishes in some form in all human societies. Many of the everyday customs and practices of some nations have roots in religion. Even in the West, where there are generally no strict religious rules of life, many still go to church, temple, or syn¬agogue to take part in ritualistic ceremonies.
These ceremonies, also called "religious services", include such things as weekly or daily prayer meetings, special gatherings during the year to celebrate important religious events, special events such as weddings and funerals, and services which celebrate a child's development from childhood to adulthood.
Since people are basically the same all over the world, the types of events celebrated are not surprisingly the same as well from religion to religion. However, the special clothing and robes worn, the special language used, the preparation and types of food and drink consumed, the songs sung, the prayers and chants repeated, the architecture and design of the houses of worship, the interior decorations celebrating the religion, and much more, vary greatly from religion to religion, creating the "ritualistic ceremonies" unique to each religion.
One of the most important functions of any religion is to help explain the unknown. What is the origin of the world? What happens when we die? What is the purpose of life? What is in the distant heavens? Is there a need for suffering? Questions like these have required a special kind of answer, one that turns to some idea of a world outside our own, a world of spirits, perhaps, or of gods and goddesses. Such a world needs interpretation, and the religious leader has traditionally fulfilled the role of the interpreter and mediator between the supernatural and natural worlds. In addition, the religious leader stands guard over the tradition of which he is a part, by teaching the rituals of the religion to future generations, by performing services using these, very rituals, and by making sure that the laws and values of his religion are correctly understood and enforced by its followers.
But religion is not there simply to provide answers to traditional questions about religious practices and spirituality. A religion can provide the moral fabric or structure for the people of a nation. That is: it can guide its people on what is important in life; it can help them cope with everyday problems; and it can establish what are considered to be "accepted" ways of dealing with individuals or groups in many different situations. A religion can be very helpful in creating a sense of order and stability for the mind.
If the religion is too rigid in its beliefs, and intolerant of other religions and cultures, the people of a nation can be too rigid as well in their beliefs and intolerant of others
