помогите!!!!! ARE YOU SHY? About 50 % of people in the United States say that they are shy. And for more than 13 % of Americans, being shy is a serious

problem. The situation in other countries around the world is very similar. Of course it is normal to feel a little shy sometimes. Most people feel shy in a new social situation, for example when they start a new job or have to meet and talk to strangers. But in these cases the shyness usually passes quickly.

Some people, however, are extremely shy. They are so shy that they cannot live normally. They feel worried, they sweat and tremble when they are with other people. In order to avoid these unpleasant feelings, the shy person avoids* other people. Shy people often say to themselves: "I'm not normal. People think I am boring and unattractive. I'm a failure." These negative thoughts make it more difficult for the shy person to make friends. The result is that the shy person is lonely and sad.

Shy children need a lot of help. Otherwise these shy children will grow up and become shy, unhappy adults. Parents who have a shy child should set a good example, since children learn a lot of behaviour from their parents. It is also important not to label a child as shy.

Shy children can also help themselves. You have to learn to think positively. You must stop thinking negatively. Another thing you can do is give yourself a target. For example, you may say, "I'm going to talk to at least one stranger today" or "I'm going to ask X to come for a coffee with me." When you achieve your target, you will feel very satisfied. If you are shy, you should try to walk with your head up so that you look at other people's faces. Soon, walking like that will become a habit and you will feel better and more confident as a result.

Of course, it is normal to be shy sometimes. Being a little shy can sometimes stop us from doing things that are foolish. But if you are extremely shy, you do not have to suffer. You can become less shy and become a happy, sociable person.

Read and decide if the statements are true, false or nothing is known from the text Maps were made long before reading and writing were

invented. The earliest map that we know of is a cave painting on the Lascaux caves in France. The painting shows a part of the summer night’s sky 16500 years ago. Modern astronomers can still understand the night sky shown in the map. A four thousand year old map made by the Ba¬bylonians is still in existence. Many ancient map-makers thought that the world was flat, but explorers like Magel¬lan in the 15th century sailed around the world and helped to make better maps. Besides, measurements taken by satel¬lites show that our planet Is slightly pear-shaped. Satellites have also provided more accurate Information and have helped to see and map parts of the world that were lit¬tle known or never seen by humans before. Satellites have photographed the Amazon rainforest and have shown that the area the size of twenty football pitches is being cut down every minute. Pictures taken from space have also shown that one of the world's largest areas of inland water, the Aral Sea, has been shrinking very quickly. Modern satel¬lite maps show the effects of global warming and pollution and help us to understand the world around us better. More and more drivers nowadays rely on satellite navigation in their cars so the traditional road maps may not be around much longer.

B 2. Read the text and match the sentences if they T (true) or F (false).

We need energy to heat our homes, cook and clean for our families and for transport. It allows us to live a comfortable and easy life. However, if we don’t use this energy properly we will soon run out. Luckily, there are things we can all do to help our planet and conserve our resources.
To begin with, much of the energy used at home goes to heating or cooling our homes. A simple way to help conserve energy is by lowering the thermostat by two degrees in the winter and raising it by two in summer. By doing so, you will not only lower your heating bill, but you will also reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere.
Another way you can save energy at home is by buying energy-saving appliances. Appliances like washing machines and cookers use a great deal of gas or electricity to work. When shopping for new appliances, look at the energy-saving sticker; they might be a little more expensive to buy, but they help save energy, and in the end will help you save money on your bills.
A lot of energy is used by means of transport too. One of the many ways to achive low energy usage is to leave the car at home and catch the bus or the train to move around the city. Fewer car in the street means less traffic and it will not only help save energy, but it also reduce the amount of air pollution.
In the end, it is up to every individual to take responsibility and charge their daily habits. If everyone does their part, then we can help save energy and our planet’s resources.
