A trip to the USA
Teacher- Hi,everybody! I"ve got great news for you. At the end of April your group-- the winners of "English Learners Contest"-- is going to the USA!
Tanya- It's fantastic!

Volodya- I can't believe it! It's too good to be true
Irina- I knew it! I knwe it!
Teasher- Please be quiet. I'm here to tell you all you want to know, but if you make so much noise I won't be able to do it
Volodya- When are we leaving? What places are we going to visit?
Teacher- We are starting on the 23rd of April and we are flying from Sheremetyevo to New York, Kennedy Airport.
Tanya- How long are we going to stay in New York?
Teasher- Only two days, but it's long enough to see the main sights: the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan, the famous skyscrapers, the Metropolitan and the Bronx Zoo
Irina- But New York is in the east and I have always wanted to see Hollywood and Disneyland. Are we going to do to California too?
Teacher- Yes, we are, but only at the end of our trip. Between New York and California we'll go to Philadelphia, the birthplace of America democracy, and Washington, D.C.
Misha- Just Philadelphia and Washington? Aren't we going to Texas? I've always wanred to meet cowboys or even take part in a rodeo.
Tanya- What's a rodeo, Misha?
Micha- Don't you know? It's when cowboys ride wild horses or catch wild horses throwing a lasso. I saw it in a film

Walter and Mary were two of the ravens. They lived at the Tower of London, in England. They enjoyed life there , but some days were difficult. Mary and Walter loved to sit on the wall and watch people. They often laughed at some of the silly things they did. They ravens didn’t like it when people stared at them , made faces at them ,or sometimes took photos of them. They didn’t mind the photos too much , but when the camera got too close to their beaks - they got angry. That day , some of the tourists got very close to the ravens . One man’s camera nearly touched Mary’s beak. Then a large group of children came by. One little girl put her face very close to Walter’s beak. He wanted to bite the girl. Mary uderstood Walter’s wish. "Don’t!" she said. After all the tourists and children went home , Walter said to Mary , "l’ve had it ! L’ve had it ! I want to leave the Tower and find another place to live." Mary answered , " Walter , we can’t leave the Tower . We can’t fly , remember . They clipped our wings so we couldn’t fly away. . I heard a Beefeater say once that as long as there were ravens at the Tower of London, then England would stay a great country. If we leave the Tower , then what will happen to England?" I don’t care anymore. Do you know what a little boy did to me today? He pulled a feather out of my tail. That hurt! I’m tired of this place and of all the people," Walter sighed.Just then, Anne and William, two of the other ravens that lived at the Tower, came by. "What’s the matter with Walter?" Anne asked. He is tired of the tourists. He wants to leave the Tower," Mary told her. "But Walter , I also had a bad day. A man with a camera stuck it so close to me that it chipped a piece off my beak , " William said. " Well , if we’re all so unhappy here , why don’t we leave ? We’ll find a better place to live than here " , Walter said. The other ravens agreed. That night they made a plan of how to escape from the Tower of London.

Lisa's First Visit to the Bolshoi Theatre
a) During the interval we walked around in the foyer . I told Alec how much I liked the ballet . It was really wonderful . I said I would love to see some other ballet some day . So we went to the box office and bought two tickets for " The Nut-cracker . Then we had ice-cream and coffe in the buffet .
b) When we arrived at the theatre , we left our coats at the cloak room . Our seats were in the stalls . I had a look at the tickets . They were not very expensive but we could see the stage very well . Alec bought me a programme and gave me his opera glasses . The curtains were fantastic . As we had some time before the beginning....
c) Last autumn my cousin invited me to the Bolshoi Theatre . I had never been there before and was really excited when Alec told me we were going to see " Swan Lake " , the famous ballet by P.I.Tchaikovsky .
d) When at last the ballet was over and the music came to an end , there was a storm of applause . I applauded loudly too . I really enjoyed myself .
e) Soon the lights went down , then the curtains rose and the dancers appeared on the stage . I liked every minute of the first act - the scenery , the costumes , the music and the way they danced .
