The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is an island country. The British Isles include two islands; Great Britain and Ireland and about five thousand small islands. The country consists of four parts; England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The country is washed by the English Channel, the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The Tower is still guarded by Yeomen Warders, the famous beefeaters, who wear a traditional sixteenth century uniform. The Tower Bridge was opened in 1894.
