Criminal Justice
It is the law courts that are to administer criminal justice in England. Perhaps, criminal trial in the law courts of England is not so different from criminal trials in Europe. Still, it is interesting to note that in England newspapers mustn’t describe the accused as the “thief”, or the “murderer”; he is “the accused”, or “the defendant”, or “the prisoner”. Here is a description of a criminal trial in England. First, the counsel for the prosecution tells the court what he is going to prove by evidence in his opening statement. Then he calls his witnesses. These persons can say what they know in answers to questions, so the examination of witnesses is very important. Then, the counsel for the defense is to defend the prisoner. He calls his witnesses. The judge can interfere if any of the questions are unfair. Every counsel may examine a witness of the opposite side. This is the cross-examination.
The law of evidence is very strict. Every witness must swear an oath (sometimes with his hand on the Bible) “to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth”. A witness is to give evidence in a special “witness box”. A witness may tell only what he himself considers to be true. There can be no “hearsay” evidence at the trial. When the examination of the witnesses is over, counsels for both sides make further speeches. Then the judge is to sum up. After that he asks the jurors to consider their verdict. The members of the jury have to decide only the questions of fact. Questions of the law are for the judge. So, the jury retires to a private room to consider a verdict, i.e. to find the prisoner “guilty” or “not guilty”. In English law courts the judge may know the prisoner’s past record of crime, if there is any, only after the verdict. This should help the judge to pass the just sentence – more or less severe.

помогите пожалуйста перевести текст срочно нужно (((((( Ok! Youre on your own here. Theres no Mummy doing all the searching for you and asking

all the right questions. So how on earth do you find a house? Don’t panic: everyones in the same boat. You need to begin by making a list of what you want in a house. For instance, do you want a bath or will just a shower be OK? Do you want a washing machine( my advice-YES- launderettes are a nightmare and you cant afford to have things cleaned for you ). Are you OK with sharing a bathroom or do you want an en suite of your own? You also need to think about where your house is located- bus and train fares can add up to a lot of money.

Secondly, make sure you take with you a list of questions you want to ask. Will you have to pay the rest of the rent if the other rooms aren’t filled? How big is the deposit and will it be returned at the end of your rent? Is there a garden-are you responsible for it? Are the rooms lockable? Is the house in good condition? If the landlord promises to have things repaired, get his promises included in the contract.

There are also a few things you should look our for: what is included in the rent and how much are the extra bills? So if you’ve found a house for 40 a week ,but it doesn’t cover any bills-you aren’t going to save money, especially if the other rooms are empty

ПОМОГИТЕ пожалуйста! надо написать ответы на английском на вопросы из текста 1. Is the skeleton is composed of b

ones?

2 How many bones are there in the skeleton of an adult person?

3 what parts does the skull consist of?

4 what parts does spine consist of?

5 what parts does the chest consist of?

6 what bones do uppex and low extremities consist of ?

7 Do all bones consist of organic and inorganic substances?

THE SKELETON.

The skeleton is composed of bones. In the adult the skeleton has over 200 bones.

The bones of the skull consist of cranial and facial parts. There are 26 bones in the skull.

The bones of the trunk are the spinal column or the spine and the chest (ribs and breastbone). The spine consists of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae and the coccyx.

The vertebra is the small bone, which is formed by the body and the arch. All the vertebrae compose the spinal column or the spine. There are 32 or 34 vertebrae in the spine of the adult. There are seven cervical vertebrae, twelve thoracic vertebrae, five lumbar, five sacral vertebrae and from one to five vertebrae which form the coccyx in the spinal column. The cervical part of the spine is formed by seven cervical vertebrae. Twelve thoracic vertebrae have large bodies. The lumbar vertebrae are the largest vertebrae in the spinal column. they have oval bodies.

The chest (thorax) is composed of 12 thoracic vertebrae, the breastbone and 12 pairs of ribs. The breastbone is the long bone in the middle of the chest. It is composed of three main parts. The basic part of the chest is formed by the ribs. On each side of the chest seven ribs are connected with the breastbone by cartilages. The cartilages of three other ribs are connected with each other and with the seventh rib. But the cartilages of these ribs are not connected with the breastbone. The eleventh and the twelfth ribs are not connected with the breastbone either. They are not connected with other ribs, they are free. Each rib is composed of a head, neck and body.

The lower extremity consists of the thigh, leg and foot. It is connected with the trunk by the pelvis. The upper extremity is formed by the arm, forearm and hand. It is connected with the trunk by the shoulder girdle.

The bones of the skeleton are connected together by the joints or by the cartilages and ligaments. The bones consist of organic and inorganic substance.

Срочно!Помогите пожалуйста!!! нужен перевод 1 и 3 абзацы ( не по переводчику) . + ответить на вопросы. PUBLIC BEHAVIOR IN THE UNITED

KINGDOM

1. Britons, and the English in particular, are notoriously undemonstrative. The “stuff upper lip” is not just the stuff of fiction and emotional displays, positive or negative, are generally frowned upon. Gestures such as backslapping and hugging are discouraged and a wide distance should be maintained between participants in a conversation. Maintaining eye contact may be necessary when you are trying to emphasize important points but you must avoid any temptation to “eye-ball”. Talking loudly is unacceptable and shouting is beyond the pale. Some old-fashioned interlocutors may not hear you if you have your hands in your pockets. The British do not gesticulate frantically.

2. Introductions can be tricky. Ideally the British prefer third-party introductions but in certain situations, like a drinks party, it may not always be possible and, though awkward, you may just have to go ahead and introduce yourself. Firm handshakes are the norm as part of a formal introduction but may not be expected at subsequent meetings or on social occasions; a gentleman should always wait for a woman to proffer her hand before squeezing it gently. The continental habit of exchanging kisses has gained currency especially amongst the young and the affected but is not recommended for visitors – even the natives are unsure of the correct procedure.

3. “How do you do?” is a greeting not a question. It is used when people are introduced for the first time only and the correct response is to repeat “How do you do?” which is a more or less sincere enquiry as to your well-being.

4. This emotional detachment or even apparent indifference also explains the British abhorrence of Americanisms such as “Have a nice day”. The objection lies not in the sentiment itself but in the lack of sincerity that is implied to the stand-offish British mentality.

5. If the British use few words, it is because they prefer to mean those they do use. They are polite and courteous for the most part. They expect to be treated with respect, in turn for which they will treat you with respect, so: – if there is a queue, go to the back of the line and wait patiently; - do not use the “V” – sign (raising the index and middle fingers) unless you are sure which is the Churchillian version signifying peace or victory (palm outwards); the use of the alternative version (palm inwards) is less common nowadays but is still vulgar and offensive.

6. A service charge of 10-15 % is almost always included in hotel and restaurant bills and you should be wary of establishments that leave the credit card slip open for you to include an additional contribution (if you wish to reward exceptional service give cash directly to the staff). Do not tip bar staff in pubs where there is no table service. Otherwise taxi drivers (especially in London), hairdressers, porters, etc. will expect 10-15 % or a couple of pounds, whichever is the greater.

IV. Ответьте на вопросы к тексту:

1. What kind of people are Britons?

2. What kind of introductions do the British prefer?

3. What does “How do you do?” mean in Britain?

4. What are the norms of public behaviour in Britain?
