The city was founded in 1221 by Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich to protect Russian borders. Nizhny Novgorod is the fifth most populous city in Russia, an important economic, transport and cultural center of the country.

It features over 600 unique historical, architectural and cultural sites. The main attraction of the downtown is the Kremlin. There are great places for walking in Nizhny Novgorod, for example, one can take a walk along the promenade Verkhnevolzhskaya, which offers magnificent views. Besides, there is a large number of parks in the city: "Avtozavodskii", "Switzerland", "Sormovskiy", "Kulibin", "May the 1st", " Oaks ", "Shchelkovsky countryside".

Like all large cities, Nizhny Novgorod has its own problems. Primarily, it's the condition of the roads. Just like the rest of Russia, the roads in Nizhny Novgorod are in pretty bad condition, which leads to a lot of accidents and traffic jams. Also Nizhny Novgorod, being a major industrial center, is characterized by high levels of air pollution associated with emissions from vehicles and industrial facilities.

In conclusion, I would like to say that despite its problems, Nizhny Novgorod will always remain a carefully preserved city, which is treated with consideration by its inhabitants (или  Novgorodians).
