Здравствуйте! Очень нужен перевод! Ales: Through wars and through peace to now. This is the first photo of just a hand that I

10-11 класс

took, and it came about by accident. I was driving this lady to a clinic, and we had to wait in a car park. I had my camera in my lap (you know how you do in case something photographic turns up,) when I happened to notice the light falling on her hand that was guarding her handbag. Camera on lap, screen facing up looking down for a rough sighting and auto-focus, I managed a shot before she moved. Imagine my delight (and surprise) when this image came up on my monitor. Talk about luck. Alterednate: Great capture, it really does speak 1000 words. Nony vogue: Wow, the lighting is amazing. This is quite the shot. I'll add it to my faves. Lynn Morag: Tt's a beautiful snapshot - just think what experiences that hand has lived through - from the turn of the century in a world when the motorcar was rarely seen, no streetlights, houses without electricity ... Cilest: Very impressive! Sensitive and beautiful light. Wish I had taken it. Swirl: Gorgeous pic :)! more proof that we outlive our bodies... Bainers: When 1 first looked at this photograph, I thought it was in black and white. But, it is not. I really like this. HKCB: A really beautiful portrait. I'm impressed. The framing and focus are excellent. Rongzoni: There is so much strength and character in this por trait - I can feel her eyes looking out across history, with tears of sadness and joy! It makes me remember my grandmother too, with great affection! Ted Foo: Beautiful and touching! What might this hand and its owner have been through in their life? Every wrinkle tells a story

The Work of the Human Heart The human heart contracts from the first moment of life to the last one. The contractions of the heart pump blood through the

arteries to all the parts of the body Scientists have determined that the total weight of the blood pumped by the hemi daily is about 10 tons. Physiologists have established that in the adult the heart makes from 60 to 7,' beats per minute.4n children the rate of heartbeat is much higher. Research work of many scientists has helped to determine that the rate of heartbeat increase depending on different emotions. Each beat of the heart is followed by a period of rest for the cardiac muscle Each wave of contraction and a period of rest following it compose a cardiac cycle The period of rest is shorter during greater physical exertion and longer when the body is at rest. The physiologists called the first phase of short contraction of both atria - the atrial systole, the second phase of more prolonged contraction of both ventricles- the ventricular systole. The period of rest of the cardiac muscle is called the diastole The blood received by the left atrium from the pulmonary circulation is discharged out by the left ventricle to the systemic circulation through the aorta. The atria act as receiving chambers.

Нужно перевести текст, только не через переводчик:: The Difficult Child The difficult child is the child who is unhappy. He is at war with himself, and

in consequence, he is at war with the world. A difficult child is,, nearly always made difficult by wrong treatment at home. The moulded, conditioned, disciplined, repressed child — the unfree child, whose name is a Legion, lives in every comer of the world, He lives in our town just across the street, he sits at a dull desk in a dull school, and later he sits at a duller desk in an office or on a factory bench. He is docile, prone to obey authority, fearful of criticism, and almost fanatical in his desire to be conventional and correct. He accepts what he has been taught almost without ques¬tion;, and he hands down all his complexes and fears and frustra¬tions to his children. Adults take it for granted that a child should be taught to behave in such a way that the adults will have as quiet a life as possible. Неnce the importance attached to obedience, to manner, to docility. The usual argument against freedom for children is this: life is hard, and we must train the children so that they will fit into life liter on We must therefore discipline them. If we allow them to do what they like, how will they ever be able to serve under a boss? How will they ever be able to exercise self-discipline? To impose anything by authority is wrong. Obedience must come from within —not be imposed from without. The problem child is the child who is pressured into obedience and persuaded through fear. Fear сад be a terrible thing in a child’s life. Fear must be entirely eliminated — fear of adults, fear of punishment, fear of disapproval. Only hate can flourish in the atmosphere of fear. The happiest homes are those in which the parents are frankly honest with their children without moralizing. Fear does not enter these homes. Father and son are pals. Love can thrive. In other homes love is crushed by fear. Pretentious dignity and demanded respect hold love aloof. Compelled respect always implies fear. The happiness and well-being of children depend on a degree of love £md approval we give them. We must be on the child’s side. Being oil the side of the child is giving love to the child — not possessive love — not sentimental love - just behaving to the child in such a way the child feels you love him and approve of him. Home plays many parts in the life of the growing child, it is the natural source of affection; the place where he can live with the sense Of security; it educates him in all sorts qf ways, provides him with his opportunities of recreation, it affects his status in society. Children need affection. Of all the functions of the family that of providing an affectionate background for childhood and adolescence has never been more important than it is today. Child study has enabled us to see how necessary affection is in ensuring proper emotional development; and the stresses and strains of growing up in modern urban society have the effect of intensifying the yearning for parental regard. The childhood spent with heartless, indifferent or quarrelsome parents or in a broken home makes a child permanently embittered. Nothing can compensate for lack of parental affection. .When the home is a loveless one, the children are impersonal and even hostile. Approaching adolescence children become more independent of their parents. They are now more concerned with what other kids say or do. They go on loving their parents deeply underneath, but they don’t show it on the surface. They no longer want to be loved as a possession or as an appealing child. They are gaining a sense of dignity as individuals, and they like to be treated as such. They develop a stronger sense of responsibility about matters that they think are important. From their need to be less dependent on their parents, they turn more to trusted adults outside the family for ideas and knowledge. In adolescence aggressive feelings become much stronger. In this period, children will play an earnest game of war. There may be arguments, roughhousing and even real fights. Is gun-play good or bad for children? For many years educators emphasized its harmlessness, even when thoughtful parents expressed doubt about letting their children have pistols and other warlike toys. It was assumed that in the course of growing up children have a natural tendency to bring their aggressiveness more and more under control.

1. Will the strips move at the same or at different speeds?
What will cities of the future look like? Town planners are thinking of new methods of construction and transportation.
What will city transport be like in 20 or 30 years? The moving pavement is one possibility. It consists of several strips (полоса) moving along at different speeds. These escalators are moving in both directions along all streets. On reaching his destination (место назначения) the passenger steps over the slower strip and there to terra firma (неподвижная земля).
For convenience these moving pavements may be supplied with chairs,
benches, Vending machines selling soft drinks, ice-cream, candy and so on..
2. What kind of transport will be forced out?
The first lines of such moving pavements should appear in the streets which have the heaviest traffic and are the most dangerous for pedestrians (пешеходы).In the beginning they will replace the older forms of city traffic only in certain streets, but then they will appear in a single system serving the centre of the city. Buses, trolley-buses and motor-cars will be forced out as the trams are forced out of the centre of many cities now.
3. What kind of cars shall we have in future?
What will the car of the future be like? It probably won't be red. Our response to colours isn't always the same. If you want people to stop when
they see a car in front of them, yellow is probably the best. When you go for a drive in the car of tomorrow you will certainly know more about the road in front of you. Your car radio will tell you about the next comer before you can see it It will pick this up from a wire under the road. When you stop quickly, the light that tells the man behind you to be careful will spread across the car. At the same time a bag in front of you will fill up with air to stop you hitting your head от the window. What will the car of the future run on? Not petrol which is dirty and noisy. In future we'll probably have electric cars. As a rule the electric car can only make a short journey before going back to the garage. Or steam cars. That too would be quiet and clean. But in England there is a farmer who has invented a car that runs on manure (навоз) and he drives to London in it every week.
4. What are the advantages (преимущества) of a tube system?
Trains of the Future. What about long-distance travel? Consider the "tube-train" suspended (подвешенный) and propelled by compressed air. It may carry passengers on trips at 350 miles an hour. This idea is materialised in a 12-foot long model of a strange new aluminium torpedo train, The full-size train will run though an 18 foot diameter metal tube, while big propellers pump the air from the front to the rear. A tube system has many advantages: a tube train makes little noise (шум); the tube can be suspended, buried (зд. подземный) or even run through buildings; maintenance cost of this train will be low and passengers will be protected from bad weather.
